Job Summary
Reporting to the Engineering Team Leader, the Project Engineer is responsible for the complete management of projects, from receipt of the customer order through to commissioning. They ensure coordination between clients, designers, purchasing, production, quality and the job site to guarantee the technical, operational and financial success of each project. They also maintain a functional reporting relationship with the Director of Operations through the Engineering Team Leader, in order to align operational needs and production planning.
Your Responsibilities
- Analyze the specifications received from clients and prepare the engineering review to guide the designers.
- Perform technical calculations and validations to ensure design compliance.
- Develop concepts and designs for the Designers and verify/approve manufacturing drawings.
- Establish the project schedule in collaboration with the Production Planner and ensure compliance with the milestones and timelines of the engineering process.
- Provide buyers with the complete list of materials required for the project.
- Ensure client approval is obtained within the established deadline.
- Communicate regularly with the client to monitor progress, obtain clarifications and manage required changes with the Contract Administrator.
- Ensure all relevant information is transmitted to the design teams, purchasing and production.
- Support production and take part in site visits, if necessary.
- Review and validate quality documents associated with the project.
- Ensure the design and execution comply with applicable health and safety standards.
- Monitor adherence to costs, expected quality and deadlines (deviation tracking, corrective actions).
- Collaborate with the Contract Administrator on administrative follow-up related to projects.
Requirements
- University degree in Mechanical Engineering
- 1 to 3 years of relevant experience
- Member of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ)
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
