Task description:
  • Carry out planting work (annual flowers, perennials, shrubs and trees);
  • Develop and prepare spaces for the installation of plants;
  • Carry out maintenance work (fertilization, cleaning, watering, pruning, weeding, winter protection);
  • Handle soil, mulch and plants with the required tools;
  • He may have to interact with the client or his representative when he is in the field, communicate questions, requests or problems to the project manager.
  • May have to drive and operate the company's machinery and vehicles if the person has the required skills (truck, trailer, tractor, loader, mechanical shovel, other small mechanical tools);
  • Train staff and ensure that work procedures are respected on the grounds;
  • Respect quality, health and safety standards at work;
  • Participate in all stages of production. Greenhouse production (pricking, potting, watering, pinching,). Nursery production (potting, weeding, fertilization, pruning, handling, initiation of cutting, division). Field production participate in the installation of a tree plot, pruning, staking, initiation of uprooting, weeding.
  • Accomplish all other related tasks.

Requirements:
  • 1 year of experience with a diploma in horticulture;
  • 3 years of experience without a diploma in horticulture;
  • Good knowledge of plants and planting methods;
  • Have good physical condition;
  • Have an interest in team work;
  • Be able to work in any weather conditions;
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously;
  • Good communicator;
  • Able to recognize priorities and manage emergencies;
Assets:
  • Be familiar with the requirements of the City of Québec and the MTQ;
  • Hold a valid class 5 driver's license;
  • Be able to drive a small 6-wheel truck;
  • Be able to operate other types of machinery (e.g. tractor, loader, ATV, etc.);
  • Be able to handle small motorized tools (e.g. hedge trimmer, mechanical saw, etc.);
  • Knowledge of Spanish;
  • Hold ASP construction;
Conditions:
  • Salary between $18 and $25/hour
  • Time and a half after 40 hours and end-of-season bonus up to $2000;
  • Full-time, Monday to Friday, 40 to 50 hours per week (Saturdays on a voluntary basis);
  • Seasonal with possibility of extending the season;
  • Location of employment: Saint-Augustin-de-Desmaures, Québec
