Groupe Volvo Canada Inc. is currently looking for a Chief Accountant to complete its current team in Sainte-Foy or Sainte-Claire.
What you will do:
The Chief Accountant is responsible for managing all accounting activities and financial compliance for assigned legal entities. This role ensures the integrity of financial reports by developing and implementing robust review and approval procedures covering all accounting processes.
The position provides accurate, timely, and relevant financial information to internal and external stakeholders, while promoting continuous improvement of accounting practices. This includes closing accounts on time in accordance with Volvo's quality standards and accurately fulfilling all legal and compliance obligations.
In collaboration with the tax department, the Chief Accountant ensures compliance with federal, provincial, local regulations, and company policies and laws.
Responsibilities
- Manage all accounting operations and produce complete and compliant financial statements according to local standards (GAAP), IFRS, and Volvo Financial Policies and Procedures (FPP).
- Supervise accounting processes, including the review and approval of all balance sheet accounts.
- Validate compliance with federal, provincial, local, and corporate requirements and report risks to the tax team for resolution.
- Research and analyze accounting issues to assess their impact on financial results.
- Evaluate, implement, and maintain accounting policies and procedures to ensure financial integrity.
- Develop and maintain internal control structures for accounting and compliance processes.
- Lead monthly closing activities, reporting in the consolidation system, and preparation for audits.
- Coordinate legal and compliance reports to ensure their accuracy and timely completion.
- Facilitate annual external audits and ensure compliance with internal control objectives.
- Maintain accounting records compliant with local (GAAP), tax, and legal standards.
- Provide local management with accurate and timely financial information for decision-making.
- Perform other related tasks and special projects to support the FCA department.

Who are you?
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance; CPA title required.
- 5 to 8 years of experience in accounting and financial reporting; 1 to 3+ years in a management role.
- Mastery of SAP financial systems, consolidation tools, and advanced Excel skills.
- Solid knowledge of the Microsoft Office 365 suite.
- Experience with Power BI, Microsoft Power Automate, and other automation tools (an asset).
- Bilingual mastery of French and English (mandatory).
- Excellent communication, leadership, and team management skills.
- In-depth knowledge of internal control procedures for accounting and financial compliance.
- Expertise in local GAAP and IFRS standards.
- Advanced analysis and problem-solving capabilities.
