Under close supervision, the Technician I performs basic preventive maintenance and minor repairs on different types of vehicles. They work in collaboration with senior technicians (T2-T4 or shop supervisor) for complex diagnostics and repairs. This position aims to develop technical skills in a structured and safe environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform basic maintenance and preventive maintenance services (PM)
- Assist with minor mechanical and electrical repairs
- Inspect braking, tire, battery, cooling, and transmission systems
- Use diagnostic tools under supervision
- Perform tire, brake, and PM checks according to training standards
- Perform light electrical repairs (lighting, batteries, wiring, accessories)
- Participate in shop operations and facility maintenance
- Document work in the shop management system
- Communicate basic issues to drivers/clients as needed
- Comply with all safety and DOT/MOT compliance standards
- Basic mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn
- Ability to follow instructions and work as a team
- Good organizational skills and attention to detail
- Basic computer knowledge (intermediate level desired)
- Availability to work variable schedules and weekends
- High school diploma (or equivalent) desired
- 1 year of vehicle maintenance experience (an asset)
- Basic tool box required
- Class A driver's license an asset
- High-risk position (unregulated technician)
- DOT/MOT compliance required
