Why work at Papiers White Birch, S.E.C. Papier Masson WB?
- Very competitive overall compensation (salaries, insurance, retirement plans, etc.);
- Ongoing training and several opportunities for advancement;
- A dynamic and stimulating work environment;
- The chance to learn to operate all kinds of industrial equipment and actively participate in various innovation projects!
As an operations reserve laborer, you will be hired to work in a specific department of the plant, either the PTM (thermomechanical pulp) department, the paper machine department, or the finishing/shipping department. Essentially, this position involves operating and monitoring various production equipment within the progression line of your department! As a reserve employee, you will need to have a high level of availability and flexibility in your schedule to fill in for various absences on your team.
More specifically, in the PTM department, this is where wood chips are transformed into pulp to feed the paper machine. Here, you will have to operate heavy machinery and manage the immense pile of wood chips in the yard. You will also have to support the operator who ensures the process equipment is running. At the paper machine, you will first be trained on the winder. Your tasks will consist of handling the paper rolls coming out of the winder and preparing them for the next department, namely finishing/shipping. You will therefore play an essential role in controlling the quality of the product! In finishing/shipping, your role will be to place the packaged paper rolls either in our warehouse or in trucks/railcars. Since a paper roll ready to be shipped can weigh up to 2500 lbs, all rolls are handled and moved using forklifts.
To master your tasks and responsibilities, you will follow a complete and adapted training program, starting from your hiring date.
