Here's what you can expect as a custodial worker at SSP Canada:
- Create a positive customer experience by cleaning and maintaining hygienic work areas
- Ensure the cleanliness of all surfaces and equipment (e.g., floors, ceiling tiles, walls, windows, work tables, hoods, ventilation ducts, grills, refrigerators, service counters, storage areas, etc.)
- Remove garbage and transport it to designated areas
- Clear and reset tables in dining areas between services, as needed, and transport dishes to the kitchen for cleaning
- Scrape food residue from dirty plates, pots and pans, wash them by hand or place them in the dishwasher, then return them to their proper storage location
- Clean equipment using specific chemical products to meet sanitary standards; may include the use of heavy equipment
- Assist customers with special requests and communicate special needs to the server or supervisor
- Load and unload delivery trucks, and transfer supplies between storage and work areas
- Restock inventory, date and rotate food products, and check the temperature of food products
Skills and requirements
- Minimum of 6 months of experience in a retail or food service environment
- High school diploma, an asset
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to read, speak and understand English in order to communicate with customers and receive instructions
- Experience handling customer service situations
- Food handler card, as required by law
- Brand certification, as needed
- Ability to stand and work in confined spaces for long periods of time
