Job Summary :


We are a dynamic company, focused on growth and safety. GFL provides waste collection and processing, recycling, and organic matter management. We cover North America with more employees. We are looking for a full-time energetic and motivated industrial mechanic to support our growing business.


Under the authority of the operations director, the mechanic is responsible for performing evaluations, diagnostics, and necessary repairs on the company's fixed equipment. The industrial mechanic is also responsible for performing preventive maintenance on all company machines to avoid breakdowns. However, it is important to note that the work environment is dusty and noisy. The working conditions are related to the environment and the ambient temperature is relatively the same as outside.

Job Requirements :


  • Diploma in industrial mechanics or equivalent experience;
  • The position is open to electromechanical technicians and heavy machinery mechanics.
  • Knowledge of conveyor mechanics is desirable;
  • A minimum of (2-3) years of experience in machinery maintenance and repair;
  • Basic knowledge of automotive mechanics (loader, excavator) could be an asset;
  • To occupy the position, it is essential to demonstrate good manual dexterity.
  • Comfortable with heights and able to work safely.
  • It is also necessary to be autonomous, resourceful, and work efficiently and safely.
  • You must have good problem-solving skills and good priority management.


Responsibilities :


  • Diagnose mechanical problems with machinery and plan repairs using the most appropriate work method;
  • Perform maintenance and preventive maintenance work on available equipment;
  • The work must be done with good practices and good work methods to respect occupational health and safety rules.
  • The workplace must remain clean.
  • Daily progress reports are required (e.g. if machinery needs to be taken out of service, the date and number of hours must be communicated)
  • You will be required to perform all other related tasks as requested by your immediate supervisor.
