Montessori Teacher for Preschool

Part-time or Full-time

Do you want to accompany children in their discoveries and give them the means to develop their autonomy, confidence, and pleasure in learning? We are looking for a caring, organized, and passionate Montessori teacher for early childhood development.

Under the supervision of the management, you will be responsible for preparing a stimulating, secure, and adapted educational environment for the children. You will guide their learning according to the Montessori pedagogy, respecting their rhythm, interests, and level of development.

Your Responsibilities

Prepare and Maintain the Montessori Environment

  • Arrange a welcoming, ordered, and accessible classroom, promoting autonomy and concentration.
  • Prepare, organize, and maintain pedagogical materials.
  • Monitor the progression of activities in the areas of practical life, sensory development, language, mathematics, and culture.
  • Adapt the environment to the observations and needs of the group.

Accompany Learning

  • Presentation of Montessori materials with precise gestures and clear explanations, individually or in small groups.
  • Guide each child towards activities adapted to their abilities and interests.
  • Encourage learning through manipulation, exploration, and repetition.
  • Encourage autonomy in daily activities: dressing, tidying up, hygiene, and environmental care.
  • Protect concentration periods and intervene with discernment.
  • Offer complementary activities in reading, artistic expression, music, movement, and nature discovery.

Observe and Document Development

  • Regularly observe children and record their interests, achievements, and difficulties.
  • Plan future presentations based on collected observations.
  • Maintain up-to-date pedagogical files and prepare progress reports.
  • Identify particular needs and collaborate with management, families, and concerned professionals to adapt support.

Foster Well-being and Harmonious Relationships

  • Establish a warm atmosphere based on respect, kindness, and clear boundaries.
  • Accompany children in expressing their emotions and resolving conflicts.
  • Teach courtesy behaviors, mutual aid, and respect for others' work.
  • Ensure attentive supervision and apply health, safety, and hygiene procedures in the environment.
  • Accompany routines, transitions, and outdoor activities.

Collaborate with Families and the Team

  • Communicate with parents in a professional, respectful, and constructive manner.
  • Share concrete observations on the development and learning of their child.
  • Participate in parent meetings and explain the Montessori principles used in the classroom.
  • Collaborate with educators, assistants, and management to ensure consistency in interventions.
  • Participate in pedagogical meetings and ongoing training activities.
  • Respect the confidentiality of information concerning children and families.

Education and Experience Required

  • Montessori training corresponding to the age group welcomed, ideally an AMI diploma, an AMS certification or equivalent relevant training.
  • Training in early childhood education, preschool teaching or a related field.
  • Experience with preschool-age children; experience in a Montessori classroom is a significant asset.
  • Good knowledge of child development and Montessori principles.
  • Good mastery of French spoken and written; mastery of English is an asset.
  • Up-to-date training in first aid adapted to early childhood.
  • Qualifications and checks required to work with children in the relevant environment.

Essential Skills

  • Observation and analysis: understand the needs of each child and adjust activities accordingly.
  • Mastery of Montessori materials: know their use, objectives and presentation progression.
  • Individualized support: support the child while giving them the necessary space to act and learn.
  • Well-meaning group management: maintain a calm, consistent and secure framework.
  • Communication: establish a trust relationship with children, parents and colleagues.
  • Organization: prepare activities, maintain the environment and ensure pedagogical follow-ups.
  • Patience and self-control: intervene with calm and respect, even in difficult situations.
  • Team spirit and adaptability: welcome feedback and contribute to improving practices.

Working Conditions

  • Part-time or full-time position, depending on the needs of the environment and availability.
  • Schedule and remuneration to be determined based on training and experience.
  • Work in the presence of children.
  • Collaboration with a team committed to a respectful approach to child development.
