    1. Job Summary

    Under the supervision of the production supervisor, the lead flexographic press operator ensures the autonomous and optimized operation of multi-color flexographic printing presses (up to 10 colors, F&K and Bost presses). They are responsible for the quality of the printed product, color sequence management, technical leadership of their team, and adherence to the establishment's production and safety standards.

    1. Main Tasks and Responsibilities
    2. Production Planning and Preparation
    • Consult the production schedule, analyze the notes and comments associated with orders.
    • Plan and optimize the work sequence to maximize the efficiency of the shift.
    • Select and validate the printing materials (flexible substrates: PE, PET, BOPP, PVC, IML, aluminum, paper) and the inks suitable for each order.
    • Prepare and document new color sequences and the selection of anilox rolls for new items.
    1. Press Startup and Operation
    • Perform the complete startup of multi-color flexographic presses (up to 10 colors): mounting plates, adjusting cylinders, installing and adjusting doctor blades.
    • Use the Access system (pre-press) to prepare and optimize the setup when the press configuration allows it.
    • Make fine adjustments to pressure, registration, and color alignment throughout the run.
    • Monitor and maintain continuous print quality; document and resolve quality deviations.

    III. Colorimetric Quality Control

    • Take colorimetric measurements using a spectrophotometer (X-Rite or equivalent) to validate compliance with the color standards of each order.
    • Complete quality control forms (Quality Form) at startup and during production.
    • Identify and correct colorimetric deviations; escalate non-conformities according to established procedures.
    • Maintain traceability labels on all printed rolls.
    1. Technical Leadership of the Team
    • Lead and coordinate the press assistants assigned to the press for all shift operations.
    • Guide the team in resolving printing and production problems in real-time.
    • Ensure the transfer of knowledge on startup and quality control techniques.
    1. Data and Inventory Management
    • Enter inventory transactions (reduction, production return) into the Shop Floor Data Collection (PS) system.
    • Record production times and downtime in the production tracking system.
    • Manage print quantities to meet order requirements; document discrepancies.
    • Identify and properly package printed rolls at the end of production.
    1. Maintenance and 5S standards compliance
    • Coordinate and participate in press and line cleaning operations during and at the end of each shift.
    • Perform first-level maintenance on printing equipment.
    • Comply with and enforce 5S rules and current safety standards.
    • Purge the line and initiate the next sequence at the end of each production run.

    Professional experience: Minimum 5 to 7 years of experience as a primary flexographic press operator on multi-color presses (8 colors and more). Experience on F&K and Bost presses is a significant asset.


    Essential technical skills:

    • Operational mastery of multi-color flexographic presses (8 to 10 colors)
    • In-depth knowledge of anilox systems and roll selection based on ink viscosity
    • Mastery of colorimetric control using a spectrophotometer
    • Knowledge of flexible packaging substrates: PE, PET, BOPP, PVC, IML, aluminum, paper
    • Aptitude for documenting and using ERP production systems (Shop Floor Data Collection or equivalent)

    Education requirement: Technical training in flexographic printing (or equivalent acquired on the job)

    Salary: $34.00 - $44.00 per hour based on experience

    Paid vacation: 6%
