As we continue to expand our operations in Eastern Ontario, we are seeking an experienced Heavy Equipment Field Service Technician to join our growing Ottawa team.

Position Summary

The Heavy Equipment Field Service Technician is responsible for diagnosing, maintaining, and repairing heavy equipment at customer job sites throughout Ottawa and the surrounding area. This field-based role requires a highly skilled technician who can work independently while providing professional service and support to customers.

The successful candidate will play a key role in minimizing equipment downtime and ensuring customer satisfaction through efficient troubleshooting and repairs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair heavy equipment in the field.
  • Perform scheduled preventive maintenance and equipment inspections.
  • Troubleshoot hydraulic, electrical, diesel engine, and drivetrain systems.
  • Complete repairs according to manufacturer specifications and company standards.
  • Interpret technical manuals, schematics, and service documentation.
  • Complete accurate work orders, service reports, and inspection records.
  • Communicate effectively with customers regarding equipment issues and repair recommendations.
  • Coordinate parts and service requirements with the service department.
  • Maintain a professional image and positive customer relationships.
  • Ensure all repairs are completed safely and efficiently.
  • Respond to emergency breakdown calls as required.
  • Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and industry regulations.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3-5 years of heavy equipment repair experience.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and diagnostic skills.
  • Extensive knowledge of hydraulic, electrical, diesel engine, and powertrain systems.
  • Experience servicing excavators, wheel loaders, dozers, graders, compactors, skid steers, and other construction equipment.
  • Proven ability to diagnose and repair equipment independently.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams, hydraulic schematics, and service manuals.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Requirements

  • Valid Class D Driver's Licence.
  • Clean driver's abstract.
  • Ability to travel throughout the Ottawa region for field service work.
  • Strong commitment to workplace safety and safe operating procedures.
  • Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Own tools required.

Preferred Assets

  • Experience working with SANY equipment or other major heavy equipment brands.
  • Manufacturer training or certifications.
  • Welding and fabrication experience.
