Under the authority of the Assistant Director of Studies responsible for the Student Success and Academic Pathway Support Service (SARCS), you will carry out advisory, assistance, facilitation and information activities for students, as well as recommendation functions with teaching staff, particularly in developing a training profile, in monitoring learning progress, and in implementing measures aimed at improving overall performance and educational success.

In compliance with the Regulations on the Collegial Studies Regime, with the rules and procedures established by the MES, the SRAM and the College, and for students in the programs for which you are responsible, you will be required to:

  • Carry out advisory, assistance, facilitation and information activities for students, mainly during individual appointments but also during group sessions, related to their program choice and academic pathway. In particular, guide students in their course choices, authorize schedule course adjustments, and authorize course withdrawals;
  • Play a supervisory, advisory and reference role for students regarding their learning progress and the implementation of measures to overcome personal or academic difficulties in order to improve their educational success;
  • Provide special follow-up to students affected by the Regulation on Academic Success (including those readmitted following a decision of the appeal committee);
  • Analyze applications for admission and program change, verify compliance with admission requirements and, where applicable, apply selection criteria;
  • Take part in organizing and carrying out orientation sessions for newly admitted students and in registration confirmation and course selection operations;
  • Carry out various operations related to welcoming students and to the start of each session: resolving schedule conflicts, course changes and withdrawals, etc.;
  • Analyze academic pathways, verify achievement of program objectives and course prerequisites, propose pathway plans and make necessary adjustments;
  • Grant course equivalencies, exemptions and substitutions;
  • Authorize off-campus courses and the content of sponsorships;
  • Analyze students' academic files with a view to recommending appropriate academic sanctions.

Depending on the various assigned files, you will be required to:

  • Take part in team meetings and in various College committees and advisory or decision-making bodies (for example: Academic Affairs Committee, committee for the Learning and Academic Success Support Plan);
  • Take part in program committee meetings in your sector and collaborate with the Pedagogical Research and Development Service;
  • Advise teachers and other stakeholders on the impacts of their activities on students' academic progress and success, in particular regarding proposed changes to program schedules (learning activities, course sequencing and weighting, prerequisites, etc.) and support measures;
  • Coordinate or collaborate in implementing academic success support projects;
  • Produce, upon request, any analysis relevant to your field of intervention and suggest solutions;
  • Assist and advise the department head on any matter concerning the smooth running of the department;
  • As needed, take part in academic and career information activities for external clients;
  • Maintain links with the Service's various partners;
  • Perform, as needed, any other related tasks.

Required Qualifications

  • Hold a bachelor's degree in a field of specialization appropriate to the position, in particular in educational sciences, guidance, academic and career information, or psychology.

Specific Requirements

  • Have practical experience in advisory, support, facilitation and information roles with the student body and teaching staff;
  • Have practical experience and a good ability to work with students experiencing academic difficulties;
  • Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, particularly in a helping-relationship context;
  • Have the ability to practice active listening;
  • Have a good knowledge of the Regulations on the Collegial Study Regime and of the programs offered;
  • Have a working knowledge of Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, among others);

Mandatory Tests

Eliminatory language assessment tests: pass mark set at 80%, with the possibility of conditional hiring at 70%.
