Under the supervision of the coordinator of the Academic adaptation support service, the job holder offers quality services to students with disabilities, particularly;

By supporting and equipping students according to their educational support needs. They ensure the reception, familiarization with the environment, and social integration of students.

The main responsibilities include:

  • Participating in the evaluation of students' needs, implementing action plans; selecting measures to achieve the objectives of the action plan and evaluating the achievement of these objectives;
  • Meeting with students for educational follow-up to implement and apply various educational strategies;
  • Maintaining up-to-date evolving notes for monitoring and sharing with the team;
  • Encouraging the use of adapted technology (specialized software, audio-numeric files, specialized equipment);
  • Ensuring the application of accommodations and intervention strategies from the student intervention plan;
  • Collaborate with the team of adapted services advisors (CSA) and specialized education technicians (TES) on an ongoing basis (case studies, updating needs, etc.);
  • Plan, organize and lead individual or group activities aimed at acquiring the established objectives with student individuals;
  • Use different methods, approaches and techniques to intervene effectively with student individuals;
  • Design different intervention tools for their clientele;
  • Collaborate in the communication and information exchange process with teaching staff and other stakeholders;
  • Support teaching staff in the social integration and academic success of students in need;
  • Coordinate services for targeted populations (e.g. reduced mobility, visual or hearing impairments, etc.) as needed;
  • Train accompanying individuals based on the needs of the student individuals they will be accompanying, and ensure replacements as needed;
  • Ensure that adapted specialized furniture is accessible and plan purchases in collaboration with CSAs;
  • Collaborate and participate in awareness-raising activities proposed in the environment;
  • Communicate with external partners (CISSS de l’Outaouais, ergotherapists, doctors, la Ressource rehabilitation center, etc.);
  • Integrate new TES colleagues and participate in updating the professional integration portfolio of TES.

Required Qualifications

PHASE 1

  • Hold a College Diploma (DEC) in specialized education techniques.

PHASE 2

  • Hold a College Attestation (AEC) in specialized education techniques of one thousand two hundred (1200) hours or more; AND
  • Possess at least two (2) years of relevant experience in the field.

Note that the position or replacement will first be offered in accordance with the mechanism of the phases identified in the requirements and in compliance with the provisions of the various collective agreements. If it has not been filled according to the requirements of phase 1, both internally and externally, the applications of phase 2 will be analyzed by a selection committee.

Specific Requirements

  • Knowledge of the college network - an asset;
  • Specialized knowledge in the evaluation and support of student individuals with disabilities;
  • Very good intervention capacity;
  • Ability to support and lead groups of student individuals and teaching staff;
  • Ease in using various digital tools and platforms to perform tasks;
  • Excellent knowledge of spoken and written French.

Mandatory Tests

  • Linguistic evaluation tests: passing threshold set at 70% with possibility of conditional hiring at 60%.
