The Gatineau pulp and paper mill is historic. We use a unique process to produce the thermomechanical pulp used in the manufacture of newsprint. We supply ourselves with residual wood chips that we recover from sawing. In addition, we have a cogeneration facility that produces 15 MWh of electricity. We are a very close employer to our 135 employees, our primary resource that we are proud of.

Our establishment is looking for qualified people to fill a Mechanical Maintenance Supervisor position. This is a permanent full-time position.

Job Summary

Reporting to the Mechanical Maintenance Superintendent, the Mechanical Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for planning and executing the work carried out by the team of mechanics.

Main Tasks and Responsibilities

• Support and apply the company's values in health and safety, quality, environment, and enforce current regulations and policies;
• Work in close cooperation with all departments;
• Supervise several mechanical works on a daily, weekly, and major shutdown basis;
• Encourage the participation of staff under your supervision and create a favorable work atmosphere to achieve objectives through communication, delegation, teamwork, and recognition of good results;
• Ensure continuous improvement and participate in the problem-solving process;
• Develop and optimize maintenance procedures while promoting the implementation of new initiatives;
• Establish priorities based on the weekly schedule and unplanned requests;
• Ensure uniform application of the collective agreement at work;
• Your role involves performing standby periods and being available at atypical hours for emergency or planned shutdowns;
• Be innovative and seek to apply new ways of doing things;
• Ensure that the team has all the necessary resources to accomplish their tasks (Equipment, PPE, tools, etc.);
• Ensure that the work environment is clean and well-organized;
• Prepare and validate the technicians' schedule (Work shift, leave, vacation, late arrival, etc.);
• All other related tasks.

Profile Sought

We are looking for a person with leadership and experience as a Mechanical Supervisor who meets the following profile:

Requirements

• You have a Diploma of Vocational Studies (DEP), Diploma of College Studies (DEC), or a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or any other equivalent experience;
• You have 5 years of experience in industrial mechanics;
• You have recognized experience in supervising staff (unionized an asset);
• You have experience in the manufacturing sector (an asset);
• You possess leadership qualities and managerial courage with SST values;
• You are able to work in a team and communicate well with employees and demonstrate organization;
• You possess a good analytical mind and are rigorous and able to support the organization in its continuous improvement process;
• You possess a good knowledge of MS Office software tools. (SAP an asset)
