Overview

The successful candidate will provide high-quality support and service in handling customer orders and answering questions about products and services. They will answer general product questions and other questions regarding orders and returns, process transactions, and assist with picking orders in the warehouse.

Main responsibilities

• Handle in-store payments in accordance with the procedure for handling cash.
• Set aside items according to the established procedure.
• Locate customer numbers in CWDirect or STEP.
• Process exchanges and returns according to the procedure, and restock shelves as needed.
• Prepare customer orders, including safety data sheets.
• Answer customers' basic product questions.
• Greet customers upon their arrival.
• Help customers find items on the sales floor.
• Fill displays according to ISM guidelines.
• Determine whether an item can be placed on a backorder and help customers place their orders.
• Assist with receiving merchandise and restocking shelves in the warehouse from time to time.
• Take part in in-store activities (Discovery sessions, demonstrations and workshops).
• Understand the principles of inventory control, including stockouts and transfers between locations.
• Know the processes and procedures for delivery from a store (SFS).

General experience, knowledge and skills

• One or two years of retail experience, an asset
• Experience in a craft or specialized trade, such as cabinetmaking or horticulture, a decisive asset
• Application of established procedures involving fairly routine tasks
• Following procedures and using general knowledge to carry out their tasks
• Ability to perform most of their work from general instructions, requiring more detailed guidance only for new products or processes
