MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

Reporting to the regional director, the position holder is responsible for representing Rexforêt with the MRNF, regarding the quality control of forestry work, MSCR inventories, and marking. They ensure that silvicultural prescriptions and technical directives are respected by field interveners and request corrections if necessary. They are responsible for the production and verification of various technical reports and estimates and provide technical support in their region.

Quality control

  • Engage their professional responsibility in verifying and approving forest inventories, establishing treatment proposals, and all other professional acts reserved for the forest engineer;
  • Participate in the preparation of estimates before and after treatment (form, compiler);
  • Analyze and evaluate forest inventory compilation data, particularly to evaluate the quality and quantity of work to be paid to contractors;
  • Carry out, as needed, dendrometric surveys to evaluate the quality of work (MSCR inventories and marking);
  • Analyze and approve final acceptance requests for work submitted by contractors (analysis of dendrometric and geomatic data);
  • Determine, if necessary, the work to be repeated, the application of a contractual penalty or modulation, and recommend its value to the regional management;
  • Inform and advise project managers on project-specific criteria based on MRNF directives;
  • Develop and implement the regional control plan by carrying out regular follow-up with supervisors and project managers;
  • Ensure compliance with files by monitoring and verifying the supporting documents to be delivered to the MRNF;
  • Manage electronic files and various computer applications on the network.

Supervision and coordination

  • Plan, supervise, and verify the work done by personnel under their responsibility (quality project managers, geomatics, etc.);
  • Coordinate the development of the annual report (RATF) before submission to the ministry, approve it, and sign it;
  • Manage the execution of various projects under their responsibility.

Representation

  • Collaborate with the MRNF for all needs related to plans, estimates, and operational directives related to quality control of work;
  • Provide, as needed, technical assistance to entrepreneurs regarding plans and specifications as well as control methods and ministry prescriptions;

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in forestry management;
  • Be a member of the Ordre des ingénieurs forestiers du Québec;
  • Hold a valid driver's license;
  • Excellent knowledge and understanding of the forestry industry's norms and regulations;
  • Good mastery of geomatic tools (ArcGIS);
  • Ease with computer tools;
  • Intermediate knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite;
  • Mastery of the French language (both spoken and written).
