Job Summary

As a member of the snow removal team

, you will be part of a team responsible for keeping our clients' commercial properties safe, accessible, and clear of snow and ice throughout the winter

.

When a storm or snowfall is forecast, work shifts are posted in our mobile app

, where you can confirm your availability.

This is a position where employees must report directly to the assigned site

. You must therefore have a reliable means of transportation to get to your workplace in the Ottawa Centre, Nepean, or Barrhaven sectors

, and this, at any time of day or night.

We offer two types of opportunities

Availability 24/7 during the winter

, with a limited number of positions offering guaranteed hours

Part-time and on-call work for people looking for a more flexible winter schedule

This is outdoor and physical work that will keep you active while contributing to the safety of our clients' properties during the winter in Ottawa!

Key Responsibilities

Shovel and clear snow from sidewalks, pedestrian paths, entrances, stairs, ramps, and other assigned areas

Spread salt and de-icing products as needed

Maintain building entrances, emergency exits, and high-traffic areas safe and accessible

Assist with loading, unloading, and handling of equipment and snow removal products

Perform assigned tasks efficiently and within the prescribed deadlines

Meet Strathmore's quality standards and report any site issues to the team leader or supervisor

Follow all health and safety procedures when working in winter conditions

Collaborate effectively with team leaders and other team members during work shifts

What You Need to Succeed

No snow removal experience is required — training is provided

Experience in snow removal, landscaping, construction, or other outdoor physical work is an asset

Be reliable and punctual

, particularly when confirming your presence at a work shift

Have a reliable means of transportation to get to assigned sites in Ottawa Centre, Nepean, or Barrhaven

Be comfortable with physically demanding work for long periods

Be able to lift and carry repeatedly loads that can reach 50 lb

Be comfortable walking, standing, bending, lifting loads and shoveling for a large part of the work shift

Be able to work outside in cold, windy, snowy and icy conditions

Be comfortable working during the day as well as at night

Be available for shifts that can last up to 12 hours
