Gazifère, a dynamic and rapidly growing company and exclusive distributor of natural gas in Outaouais, is looking for a Financial Advisor.
The primary objective of this position is to provide independent financial analysis as well as advice and support to business partners and management. The financial advisor leverages a solid understanding of financial and accounting principles to evaluate the company's performance, support decision-making, and ensure the integrity of financial information. The role requires a good understanding of the global business environment and the interdependencies between financial activities and operational results. Through informed analysis, effective collaboration, and sound judgment, the incumbent contributes to the achievement of organizational objectives, the optimization of financial performance, and the support of continuous improvement initiatives.
What you will do
- Manages the calendar and activities related to the external audit with the support of the finance team to respond to auditor requests and provide supporting documents in a timely manner.
- Provides front-line leadership in the production and delivery of monthly financial statements.
- Participates in the month-end process by authorizing certain journal entries and reconciliations.
- Ensures compliance with accounting policies and procedures by playing a key role in financial analysis and variance analysis.
- Participates in the development and improvement of internal and external reports, ensuring they are relevant and include accurate explanations of variances; acts as an expert in the preparation of financial analyses and reports.
- Implements tools and procedures to analyze financial results and prepare various reports.
- Participates in the development and improvement of internal controls.
- Implements any changes to financial statements resulting from the external audit.
- Supports the finance team by identifying continuous improvements to processes and providing advice on financial elements such as taxes, retirement plans, and other more complex accounting areas.
- Participates, as needed, in various enterprise projects requiring financial function support and collaborates with each of the company's departments to facilitate the tracking and explanation of financial results.
- Supports the business financial analyst in the development, review, and maintenance of complete financial models for new projects and business development initiatives. Evaluates whether new projects and business development initiatives align with the company's overall strategy. Provides guidance to project development teams and corporate support teams (taxation, treasury, financial risk management, credit, corporate controllers) regarding investment review practices and capital allocation approval processes.
Who you are
- Professional accounting title or professional certification required, combined with at least 4 years of relevant experience;
- The person holding this position must master French (conversation, reading and writing). Since this person will frequently interact with colleagues, stakeholders and clients who do not speak French, a good command of English (conversation, reading and writing) is also required.
- Knowledge and understanding of accounting practices (US GAAP, an asset);
- Excellent organizational and time management skills;
- Excellent analytical, synthesis and writing skills;
- Rigor and attention to detail;
- Ability to assimilate and apply complex theoretical concepts;
- Excellent knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite and solid skills with Excel;
- Knowledge of Oracle is considered an asset;
- Knowledge and experience in taxation are considered an asset;
- Knowledge of the natural gas industry and the regulatory framework in Quebec is considered an asset.

What you will do

- Provides front-line leadership for the production and delivery of monthly financial statements.

- Ensures that accounting policies and procedures are followed by playing a critical role in financial and variance analysis.
- Participates in the development and improvement of internal and external reports while ensuring reports are relevant and including accurate variance explanations; acts as an expert in the preparation of financial analysis and reporting.

- Supports the Business Financial analyst in building, reviewing, and maintaining comprehensive financial models for new projects and business development initiatives. Evaluates whether new projects and business development initiatives align with the overall Corporate Strategy. Provides guidance to Business Unit project development and Corporate support (Tax, Treasury, Financial Risk, Credit, Corporate Controllers) teams on Investment Review practices and the capital allocation approval processes.
Who You Are
