Job Description

Position: Funeral Operations Director

Workplace: 75 boulevard Fournier, Gatineau

Start date: As soon as possible

Type of employment: Full-time

Les Jardins du Souvenir is a fast-growing leader in the field of cemeteries and funeral services in Outaouais. The non-profit organization brings together ten Catholic cemeteries of the Archdiocese of Gatineau. Les Jardins du Souvenir is constantly innovating in order to develop the full range of funeral services and meet the needs of local people and families, with the utmost respect for family, religious, cultural and personal traditions.

ROLE

Under the authority of the General Management, the Funeral Operations Director is a leader who will be responsible for the success of the Funeral Home. He/she plans, directs and supervises all activities related to funeral services as well as personnel and budget management.

Plan, direct and supervise all activities related to funeral services, as well as the smooth operation of administrative tasks relating to funerals, death certification, and updating deceased persons' files (deaths, funeral pre-arrangements)

Plan, organize, supervise and control the daily management of human resources in their sector

Support the professional development of the team by encouraging continuing education

Facilitate the welcoming and integration of new employees (advisors, escorts, funeral directors, transporters)

Disseminate information on the rules and policies of the corporation and ensure their application

Be responsible for the administrative management of the department and report directly to the General Management

Participate in the development of the budget in their business sector (funeral)

Handle the resolution of complaints related to funeral services

Plan and develop new products and services with advisors

Coordinate funeral activities, verify received documents (completed and submitted), then ensure follow-up on files

Supervise thanatology operations

Ensure the maintenance and control of the inventory of urns and other funeral products for their operating sector

At least 5 years of professional management experience in the funeral field

Thorough knowledge of computer software (MS Office) and accounting (Acomba)

Excellent command of French and English, written and spoken

Extensive customer service experience

Functional knowledge of Pérennia software

Be honest and rigorous

Reliability, discretion, judgment

Have a good sense of organization and priorities

Have good diplomacy and interpersonal skills

Available to work varying schedules and across our multiple branches (day, evening and weekend shifts, and may be called upon to work at our various service locations).
