We are looking for a senior user experience (UX) designer for projects in the Canadian public sector.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Produce user-friendly and accessible products and services for end-users;
  • Participate in all phases of the UX design process, including:
  • Creating wireframes and prototypes; and
  • Continuously iterating on solutions.
  • Design all screens with which a user could interact and create the visual and interactive elements that make this interaction possible, such as designing the following elements:
  • Icons;
  • Buttons;
  • Menu bars;
  • Typography; and
  • Colors, etc.
  • Document design specifications by creating annotations for effective transfer to the

development team;

  • Contribute to maintaining the design system;
  • Create reusable design components and optimize the user interface for

performance;

  • Ensure compliance with style guides such as the Canada.ca design system and the

Canada.ca Content Style Guide;

  • Work in an open, iterative, and collaborative manner with the CDO;
  • Work in a strategic context and communicate how activities align with strategic

objectives;

  • Participate in design critiques or lead them to receive and integrate feedback from

stakeholders throughout the design process;

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Post-secondary education required.
  • More than ten (10) years of experience as a UX designer.
  • Experience in artificial intelligence (AI), particularly Claude Code.
  • Experience in performing all of the following activities:
  • user research support;
  • creation of user personas;
  • prototype development;
  • usability testing;
  • ensuring compliance with visual brand guidelines;
  • continuously iterating on solutions with feedback collected through various mechanisms;
  • compliance with accessibility standards.
  • Demonstration of the ability to communicate and collaborate in a cross-functional manner, including:
  • communication with project stakeholders;
  • collaboration with Agile cross-functional teams;
  • aligning design with strategic business objectives; and
  • presenting design work with evidence-based justifications to various project stakeholders.
  • Documentation, insights, and presentation of actionable recommendations.
  • Application of research ethics, data privacy, accessibility, and inclusive lenses to all stages of activities.
  • Work experience in Agile product team environments.
  • Spoken and written English required.
  • Government of Canada security clearance (reliability) and previous experience in the public sector, an asset.

Job status: Permanent, full-time. Able to travel to Ottawa, ON one (1) day per week.
