About the position
Under the direction of and in close collaboration with the Director of Partnerships and Gifts, the Senior Partnerships and Gifts Officer is a skilled fundraiser, storyteller and relationship builder who plays an important role in organizing and carrying out fundraising activities that advance the mission of the Canadian Museum of Nature by maximizing revenue and providing superior stewardship and influential engagement with donors, partners and sponsors.
The incumbent is an important member of a small team in planning, organizing and executing corporate, partnership and foundation grants and gifts, and plays a key role in achieving the strategic revenue objectives of the Partnerships and Gifts team. The Senior Partnerships and Gifts Officer is responsible for managing and executing the Museum's corporate grants, partnerships and fundraising portfolio up to $250,000, bringing dedicated focus to this institutional fundraising program.
In collaboration with the Director of Partnerships and Gifts, the Senior Officer is also responsible for working with and supporting the management of the major and transformational gifts pool ($250,000+). The Senior Officer identifies, cultivates, manages, solicits and administers a personal portfolio of potential foundation and corporate grants in the range of $25,000 to $250,000.
The incumbent acts as an ambassador for the Museum within the donor community and assists with other tasks necessary to advance the objectives of the Partnerships and Gifts team.

Eligibility criteria
This position is open to all employees of the Canadian Museum of Nature and to any member of the public who meets the qualifications below.
Candidates must be legally authorized to work in Canada
Education
Completion of a post-secondary diploma or certificate in fundraising, fundraising management, museum studies, business, marketing, journalism, public relations, communications, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Language Requirements
English and French are essential
Bilingualism is not imperative (CBC/CBC)
Experience
Minimum 3 years of experience in fundraising, including experience in managing corporate culture, soliciting and closing corporate sponsorships and foundation grants at the intermediate level ($1,000 to $100,000)
Experience in identifying, creating, closing, and independently stewarding donors at intermediate and major levels ($1,000 to $250,000+)
Experience in successfully leading fundraising and program management in a complex environment to create and execute strategies to achieve business objectives
Experience in developing and designing proposals, presentations, and impact reports, managing gift contracts, memoranda of understanding, and/or other similar agreements
Experience working and collaborating with interdisciplinary and cross-functional teams to develop funding proposals
Experience using fundraising databases, CRM (customer relationship management) systems, and donor management processes
The following experiences are considered assets
Experience working with community and business leaders
Experience in planning, coordinating, and executing fundraising events
Experience working in a museum, cultural institution, or organization focused on natural history, science, or nature
