About the Position

The Human Resources Advisor works within a collaborative HR team and provides practical and concrete advice as well as support to managers and employees across the museum. They serve a diverse internal clientele, ranging from researchers and scientific professionals to employees working in collections, exhibitions, public services, and corporate services.

This position requires the ability to understand different operational realities, establish effective working relationships, and provide reactive and client-focused HR services.

This position is heavily focused on workforce management and recruitment, and the advisor accompanies managers throughout the recruitment and selection process, from identifying personnel needs and launching procedures to pre-selecting applications, coordinating and participating in evaluations and interviews, as well as supporting selection and hiring activities.

The advisor also contributes to various HR programs and initiatives, including employee recognition, accessibility, diversity, and inclusion, policies and procedures, reporting, data analysis, and process improvement.

This is a fast-paced and varied position that requires managing multiple files and priorities simultaneously, and where needs can evolve quickly. The advisor works closely with other members of the HR team, responding to daily requests and helping managers manage HR-related questions and situations. A keen sense of organization, good judgment, initiative, and the ability to find practical solutions are essential to successfully reconciling the immediate needs of clients with ongoing projects and priorities.

A sense of service is an essential aspect of this position. The incumbent must demonstrate responsiveness, accessibility, and a solution-focused approach, while providing accurate and tailored HR advice.

Education

Holding a post-secondary diploma in human resources management, business administration or industrial and social relations, OR possessing an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Language requirements

French and English are essential.

Non-imperative bilingualism: CBC/CBC

Experience

  • 2 to 3 years of experience in advising, supporting and providing operational support in human resources to managers and employees.
  • 2 years of experience in coordinating personnel staffing and recruitment processes at the local and national levels, including preparing or revising personnel staffing documents, pre-selecting applications, coordinating evaluations and interviews, participating in interviews and supporting selection committees.
  • Experience in researching and analyzing issues, trends, practices, organizational needs or data related to human resources, and in formulating recommendations to support planning and decision-making.
  • Experience in coordinating or participating in human resources projects and initiatives, including activity planning, collaborating with stakeholders, monitoring progress and supporting implementation.
  • Experience in applying principles and practices of equity, diversity, inclusion and accessibility within human resources-related programs, processes or initiatives.
  • Experience in managing multiple priorities, projects and recruitment processes simultaneously in a dynamic environment, including concurrent and urgent deadlines.
  • Experience in using software, with advanced mastery of Excel and Word, particularly for data exploitation for reporting, analysis and decision-making purposes in human resources.
