THE ROLE
The Business Partner in Finance provides financial service support at the organizational and divisional level, enabling clients to make informed decisions. The primary responsibilities include creating an active partnership with operations and management while providing real-time financial support that can influence decision-making.
We offer Business Partner positions in financial management, as well as in cost and activity planning. The Business Partner prepares financial reports, including in-year financial reports, cost reports, and/or business plan reports. The Business Partner in Finance is responsible for analyzing budget variance against actual budget, making adjustments, and presenting results to management.
The Business Partner develops and recommends solutions for resource funding allocation and management. The incumbent uses financial software and ensures compliance with financial policies and the application of organizational and inter-service procedures and processes. The Business Partner also actively participates in the preparation of financial statements, operational plans, and briefing notes for new organizational activities. Some positions include personnel supervision, but all positions include supervisory functions over the work of others.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education, certificates, and licenses
Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, business administration, or a related field AND several years of experience in accounting, financial management, or a related field

Professional Chartered Accountant (CPA) title, an asset
Experience
Development and analysis of data, reports, and financial statements
Provision of advice and guidance
Interpretation and application of policies, procedures, standards, regulations, and legislation
Control of expense and resource management
Strategic and operational planning
Advanced spreadsheet functions
Budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes
Evaluation and optimization of pricing strategies, cost structures, and resource allocation

OTHER INFORMATION
This is a hybrid position with an assigned workplace; the employee may work partially in the employer's offices and partially from home, in accordance with SBMFC's Flexible Work Arrangements policy and with the approval of the supervisor.
